Digital Street Works UK Material Classification Protocol
In FY26, OCU implemented a digital solution for the new Street Works UK Material Classification Protocol, supporting the responsible classification, segregation and management of excavated materials across our street works operations. Developed with Cogna and internal digital teams, the OCU One solution assesses risk before work starts, classifies waste on site and creates an auditable record linked to Street Manager permits. This provides greater traceability of excavated materials while supporting environmental compliance and more informed waste-management decisions. Deployed ahead of the October 2025 deadline, the system completed 50,733 assessments and reduced administration by an estimated 500 hours per week.
