Case study | E-hotboxes
At OCU Group, we aim to lead in sustainable innovation, enhancing air quality and reducing environmental impact. We introduced e-hotboxes, a gas-free, engine-integrated alternative to traditional propane-heated units. Developed over two years, we now have 18 operating within our fleet.
Our e-hotboxes use a hybrid method, combining heating elements powered by an engine-driven generator, utilising about 7 horsepower for minimal fuel consumption and optimal efficiency. This innovation eliminates propane use, enhances safety, and reduces costs by keeping asphalt hot during transit without gas burners.
As the first UK contractor to implement this solution, we achieve significant carbon reduction, cost savings, and safety improvements, setting a new standard in road repair and maintenance.
