Operational review

At OCU, our strength lies in the quiet confidence of high-performing teams delivering critical infrastructure that underpins the UK’s future.

This year’s operational review reflects the depth, breadth and focus of a business built for dependable, long-term delivery across regulated and non-regulated markets. Our operations are structured around three core business units, OCU Utilities, OCU Energy and RJ McLeod, each with a distinct focus and identity. Together, they form a unified capability with shared values and a clear vision: to lead the way in end-to-end infrastructure engineering across the UK’s energy, digital and utility markets. OCU Utilities continues to deliver across the regulated markets for power, water and digital infrastructure, maintaining established frameworks and supporting our clients as they manage growing complexity and funding requirements. OCU Energy, including OCU Connect and OCU Trenchless, serves the non-regulated energy transition sector, offering agility, engineering depth and delivery capability for renewable initiatives and connection services. RJ McLeod, a renowned energy civil engineering services provider in Scotland, appears in this year’s report as a standalone contributor following its integration into the Group. In this review, each business unit outlines its core capabilities, operational structure and future strategy. Spotlight features also highlight three key acquisitions in the period: RJ McLeod, Purestream (OCU Utilities), and McCormack Drilling (OCU Energy). Each brings strategic capability, geographic presence and technical specialism that enhances the Group’s collective offer. Our operations teams remain safety focused, disciplined and effective. This year’s operational review reflects their quality, resilience and focus on shaping infrastructure so that it delivers, endures and accelerates change for our clients and their customers.
